The Oxfords
The Oxfords are a group of six lay clerks (professional choral singers) from the Cathedral Choir of Christ Church, Oxford, UK, who sing with our Cathedral Choir for one month every year, usually from mid July to mid-August. This exchange is part of the number of links between New Zealand’s Christchurch (both the city and the Cathedral) and that of the UK, from where our city takes its name and from where many of our first settlers originated. The Oxfords visit is now into its twelfth year. While here, the Oxfords sing with our Cathedral Choir and also present a series of concerts in their own right. These usually take place on Saturday mornings at 11am.
