Purchase a Chair

The following information relates to the situation prior to the 2010 / 2011 earthquakes.

We are currently not able to offer this opportunity. We hope that in the future Chair Sponsorship will again be available and will update this page when news comes to hand.

The Chairs residing in the main body of the Cathedral (Nave) are available for 'purchase'. That is, for a sum of $345 NZ, a plaque with wording of your choosing, may be attached to the chair, to remain there in perpetuity. These chairs were manufactured locally and constructed of native rimu timer recycled from the Pyne Gould Corporations old woolstore in Moorhouse Avenue. The chairs have been upholstered in a colour scheme complementing the Cathedral interior and are modelled on the original 1881 design. There are over 400 chairs in total and around 150 of these are yet to be named.
